About Frog Dog

Three dudes and a simple idea.

Chris Mitchell needed pickups. Tom Brantley builds them, and Lane White makes sure that it all comes together.

Believe it or not, I'm not a gear head or an electronics guru. I could care less about how many wraps makes this pickup sound like "X" or this magnet sound like "Y". I only care about the result.

I have spent the past decade obsessing over how tools shape how we play, what we play, and why we play. From building guitars, to amplifiers, and even guitar polish (yes, guitar polish), my mission is simple: make what you want.

Philosophy

Guitars should feel like an extension of your arm. You should love the neck, the body should hold close to you comfortably, and there should be no comprimise to your playing because of a guitar's restrictions.

Pickups are the same way. You should get what you want out of them, plain and simple

Background & Craft

Believe it or not, I'm not a gear head or an electronics guru. I could care less about how many wraps makes this pickup sound like "X" or this magnet sound like "Y". I only care about the result. I truly believe in "staying in my lane" where craftsmanship is concerned. Sure - I can solder, but I suck at it. That's where Tom and Lane come in. I also don't want to spend time on a bench chasing down a rabbit hole of tone. That's what my hands do (and that's what practice is for).

All that being said, I do want good tools to use for my craft.

That's why I developed Frog Dog Pickups. So I could have a high quality reliable soucre.

When I'm not designing guitars, performing live shows, developing software, or running my business, I'm always thinking about the next thing... Always curious, always refining.

Practice hard and play harder.
